The land around Elgin, Texas
Elgin is about ten miles east of Manor on US‑290, where Travis County becomes Bastrop County and the blackland starts giving way to sandier ground. You can see the change in the brush. Manor is mostly mesquite, Elgin is mostly yaupon with mesquite and cedar mixed in, and south of town toward Bastrop the loblolly pines start standing over all of it.
Most Elgin calls are pasture reclamation. A tract that ran cattle twenty years ago has grown a yaupon understory so thick you cannot see across it, and the owner wants grass back. That is mulcher work, slower per acre than open mesquite because there are more stems, and the result is a tract you can graze after the first flush.
The second call is the fence line. Elgin acreage has older cross fencing than Manor and it is buried in greenbrier. That job is on its own page. Overgrown fence line →
Jurisdiction here is Bastrop County for most tracts and Travis on the northwest edge, plus Elgin city limits and ETJ. We ask which before we quote because it affects burn rules, though our default is no burn at all.
Services we actually run here
Brush clearing
Mesquite and yaupon past a bush hog, clear and grub where you want it dead.
Brush clearing →Lot clearing
Elgin has platted lots too, larger than Manor's and with county code more than HOA.
Lot clearing →Lost Pines and pines
South and east of Elgin toward Bastrop the loblolly pines start. They are trees we keep. Clearing cedar and yaupon under pines is slower work because the understory goes and the pines stay. Bastrop has its own page; Cedar Creek is on the east metro service area. Bastrop, TX →
What a day costs in Elgin
Same day rate logic as Manor: density, access, wet clay, and mulch versus haul. Yaupon thickets are slower per acre than open mesquite. Expect an Elgin acre to take more of a day than a Manor acre.
Google's AI Overview on Aug 24, 2026 showed $2,500 to $3,600 per day for land and lot clearing and up to $4,500 per day for forestry mulching on Manor searches. That is the search result, not our card. Full cost guide, permits, and burn rules →
Elgin, TX questions
Do you mean Elgin, Texas?
Yes. Elgin, Texas, on US‑290 east of Manor, Bastrop and Travis counties. Not Elgin, South Carolina. Not Elgin, Illinois. If you got here from a search that meant another Elgin, we are 1,100 miles away from it.
What grows on Elgin tracts?
Yaupon, more of it than Manor, plus mesquite and cedar. Toward Bastrop the soil turns sandier and the loblolly pines of the Lost Pines start; those are keep trees, not brush.
Which county is my Elgin tract in?
Elgin proper is mostly Bastrop County with the northwest edge in Travis. Burn rules and permit questions follow the county. Ask them; we mulch so a burn is rarely part of our plan.
How much does land clearing cost in Elgin?
Day rate. Yaupon thickets are slower than open mesquite so an Elgin acre often takes more of a day than a Manor acre. See the cost note and the cost page.
